Unlocking Business Growth: The Power of Making Your First Hire

This month we’re talking all about time management and how to make the most of the time we have that always seems to feel like it’s in short supply.

The Need for Delegation: Transitioning from Solo to Team

Starting out most of us go it alone. We are the marketing manager, the accountant, the customer service rep, the doer of all the things. It is a necessary but unsustainable way of operating. How do you know when you’re ready for the next steps?

Recognizing the Signs: How to Know You're Ready for Your First Hire

I would start by saying you probably already do hire out some things, even as a one-person shop. Do you use an IG management tool that posts automatically for you? Do you use accounting software? Those pieces are software are tools that help you run your business more effectively, and chances are you are paying for them. In a way, you already are hiring out some of the things. We just need to get to the next steps.

Before I talk about how you know when you’re ready, I want to note that hiring a trusted advisor in the form of a CPA does not count as a “first hire” in my book. It counts as a business expense that is 1000% necessary for running a business that is profitable. But that’s in another post.

Harnessing the Power of Tools: Outsourcing vs. Automation

  • I was not spending my time on the things that mattered most and that moved my business forward-aka helped me make more money.

  • Some things I just wasn’t efficient at and I knew someone who was really into those things I wasn’t, would be way quicker at those tasks.

  • I was not valuing my time-yes, when you work on your business it’s not free. There’s an hourly rate involved. Is it worth the money?

  • I realized that I DID have to spend some money to make more money. Simple and trite, but true.

  • I finally realized that hiring them was the single easiest way to grow my business and make more money.

Identifying Tasks for Delegation: Prioritizing Time and Impact

The results: The company made more money, I reclaimed my evenings, we had a well of great ideas for improvements and honestly, had WAY MORE FUN running my business.

If I had one piece of business advice it’s this: Hire sooner. It makes a world of difference. You don’t have to do it alone!

Identifying Tasks for Delegation: Prioritizing Time and Impact

Whether it’s hiring a marketing team like ours, or hiring your in house virtual assistant, don’t delay! Get out of the weeds and reclaim your time. You’ll be glad you did.
