Women-Led Businesses We LOVE

Anchorlight Creative truly has a passion for working with and supporting small, creative, women entrepreneurs. There is a reason we exclusively serve women-owned businesses. So much of where we have been (and where we want to go!) we see in all of our clients and their journeys.

We are in awe watching women build businesses from the ground up, dominating in leadership roles, and sharing their talent with lucky locals. We can’t help but take a moment and share a small sampling of women-led businesses our team adores and why. We encourage you to check them out and support them!

FOLK DETROIT

If you are into fresh, local, quality-sourced ingredients, look no further than Folk Detroit, a café, market and gift box curator in the Corktown neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan. For us, it’s their values that hook us. The founder and owner, Rohani, puts people at the forefront and bases her business upon respect for customers, suppliers, and employees. Breaking from the norm, staff are paid well above minimum wage rather than relying on customer-chosen tips. We stand behind a company that supports its people, serves scratch-made food with superior ingredients, and cultivates meaningful relationships within their community.

HERD STRATEGIES

Have you herd? Herd Strategies is a minority-owned branding, marketing and public relations agency trifecta dominating the Indianapolis area of Indiana. The owner, Denise Herd, is a client of ours and one we admire immensely. A little over ten years ago, Denise used her hard work and talent to grow her firm, persevering (and succeeding) when some told her she would fail.

This echoes too much of what ALL of us are told in the beginning- especially women business owners. We are inspired by her story and her generosity, and are grateful for her taking time out of her busy schedule in the past to chat with Sabrina about all the things- good and bad about business ownership, her experiences and lessons learned. We adore Denise and all she’s accomplished and are grateful she came into the ALC orbit.

EVO ATHLETICS

We are true fan-girls of Evo Athletics, a small Traverse City, Michigan company that offers HIIT & yoga classes. They are 50% female-owned and take so much pride in what they do and offer to their community. We may be biased since we have a personal connection, but our link gives us a first-hand glimpse into their dedication to their clients and commitment to wellness. They have created an amazing and unique workout experience for ALL levels, and their space has a family feel that gives off nothing but good vibes

BESTOW BAKED GOODS

Bestow Baked Goods is a spectacular bakery in Holly Springs, North Carolina, with a mission to “share good things with people.” The owner, Heather, is known for her unparalleled customer service and stunning custom cakes. Aside from her cake variety, the made-from-scratch baked goods are mouthwatering, and her sweet potato cupcakes and oatmeal cream pies are the talk of the town (and our absolute favs). With a vast menu of rotating flavors, and cakes personalized for your occasion, you’ll find yourself returning again and again (been there, done that). We absolutely love that she views her tasty treats as a way to communicate and sweetness radiates from her bakery.

KILOH & CO.

Amanda Adamcheck developed her Michigan-based boutique business to fulfill her need for a creative outlet and fill a gap in the market for chic sporting game apparel. What started as a small Etsy shop turned into something far greater, and her creative marketing and honesty about her entrepreneurial journey has gained her a loyal following. We love her cute, comfortable clothes and how supportive she is of other women, small business owners, and her community. She is not afraid to make decisions to protect her happiness and her authenticity and that’s so refreshing and inspirational to see. If you are a Michigander, or know someone who is, pop online to the Kiloh & Co website and let the spoiling commence!
